Delhi Metro Tips for Travelers Visiting Delhi

If you’re visiting Delhi, the Delhi Metro is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most convenient ways to travel around the city. It connects major tourist spots like Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Qutub Minar, and many other areas.
A very useful tip is to download the DMRC (Delhi Metro) app before traveling. The app helps you easily find metro routes, check fares, see interchange stations, and even buy QR tickets directly from your phone, so you can skip long queues at ticket counters.
If you plan to travel frequently, getting a Metro Smart Card is also helpful as it saves time and offers small fare discounts.
Try to avoid peak hours (9–11 AM and 6–8 PM) because trains can be very crowded. Also keep your belongings safe in busy stations.
Overall, the Delhi Metro is clean, air-conditioned, reliable, and the best way to avoid Delhi’s heavy traffic while exploring the city.

Taxi & Auto Overcharging Trap Near New Delhi Railway Station

A common trap for travelers in Delhi is auto or taxi drivers overcharging near New Delhi Railway Station and Paharganj. Many drivers refuse to use the meter and may charge 3–5 times the normal fare, especially from tourists.
To avoid this, use Uber, Rapido, Ola, or the Delhi Metro, or insist on using the meter. Checking the route and estimated fare on Google Maps can also help prevent overpaying.
