About me

My name is Rogério Kotz, I am 48 years old, and the world has always been my home. My international journey started early: at the age of 8, I moved to Paraguay, where I grew up, went to school, and lived fully immersed in the Spanish language. Later on, I studied Philosophy in Brazil, followed by Theology and English in Chicago, consolidating my fluency and ease within English-speaking cultures. All of this multicultural and multilingual background deeply connected me to the world of tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy—my greatest passions. I hold a culinary arts degree from the renowned Le Cordon Bleu and spent years on \"sensory journeys\" across Asia, Africa, and Europe, discovering cultures through their flavors. Today, I split my time managing luxury corporate travel and events around the globe and living in the fascinating Tri-Border Area. When I am in Foz do Iguaçu, my greatest pleasure is the art of hosting. I want to show you this region through the eyes of someone who truly understands hospitality and local culture. Together, we will explore everything from the natural wonders and hidden gems of Foz, and if you would like we can also stroll to the high-energy vibe of Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) and the charming culinary scene of Puerto Iguazú (Argentina).

A Day in the Triple Frontier: the best of Foz do Iguaçu

Regarding your tour in the Foz do Iguaçu region, I am completely open to discussing and fully customizing your experience based on your interests.

Just in case. below is a suggested itinerary to get us started:

We’ll want to get an early start, so I’ll pick you up at 8:30 AM right after your breakfast. Having my car makes a huge difference today—we can move at our own pace, adapt the schedule easily, and you won't have to worry about looking for taxis or waiting on tour buses.

Our first stop is the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu Falls. The park opens at 9:00 AM, and getting there right on time means we beat the massive crowds. We’ll take the park's internal bus straight to the main trail. It’s an easy, beautiful walk with incredible views of the falls opening up through the trees the whole way. The best part is the footbridge at the end, which takes us right over the rushing water so you can feel the mist and the sheer power of the falls up close.

Around 11:30 AM, we’ll head into the city to explore the rich cultural side of Foz do Iguaçu. The city has one of the largest Arab communities in Brazil, so for lunch, we can head to a fantastic local Lebanese restaurant to try authentic sfihas, hummus, and grilled meats. Afterward, we can take a drive past the beautiful Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque to see a bit of the local architecture.

At 2:00 PM, we will head north to visit Itaipu Binacional, one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the world. It’s a massive piece of engineering. We can take the panoramic tour that drives right along the top of the immense dam wall, giving you an incredible view of both the massive reservoir and the spillway structure.

By 4:30 PM, we'll have a quick window to head back to your hotel so you can rest for a bit, drop off any bags, and freshen up for the evening.

At 5:30 PM, just as the sun begins to set, we’ll head to the Marco das Três Fronteiras (the Three Borders Landmark). This is a beautiful spot where the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers meet, and you can look right across the water to see Argentina and Paraguay. The atmosphere here in the evening is great—there's a vibrant historical layout, light displays, and excellent live cultural dance shows celebrating the folklore of all three countries. It’s the perfect, relaxed place to grab a drink, enjoy the show, and cap off the day before I drive you right back to your hotel door.

The Paraguay Shopping Run: If you prefer shopping over the city tour/Itaipu, we can easily use the midday window to cross the bridge into Ciudad del Este for a few hours at Shopping China.
The Argentina Dinner: If you prefer a massive Argentine steak dinner over the Marco das Três Fronteiras show, we can grab our passports at 5:30 PM, cross into Puerto Iguazú, visit the local open-air market (La Feirinha), and hit a traditional parrillada restaurant instead.
