Hong Kong MacLehose Trail Hiking Guide
Known as one of the \"world\'s best hiking trails,\" the MacLehose Trail stretches about 100 kilometers, offering a stunning blend of mountains and sea along the way. Highlights include the turquoise waters of High Island Reservoir, the pristine white sands of Long Ke Wan, and Hong Kong\'s highest peak, Tai Mo Shan. Along the route, hikers can also enjoy volcanic rock columns, forest streams, and traditional Hakka villages.

The most scenic section is undoubtedly Stage 2. From University MTR Station, take a taxi to the East Dam of High Island Reservoir—the fare is around HK$200. Since many hikers head to this starting point, it\'s easy to find someone to share a taxi with right outside the station. Stage 2 is about 16 kilometers long. If you reach Chek Keng Pier by 5 pm, you can take a boat back to the area near University Station, making for a perfect one-day loop.
