The whir of peeling lathes comes first, as poplar logs spin against a blade and unroll into thin sheets of veneer. Tractors piled with timber creak toward the mills. Wood, paper and sugar keep Yamunanagar busy, and you hear the town at work before you see it.
Beyond the mills, Jagadhri's lanes clink with steel and brass pots, and a brick stupa from Ashoka's time sits among fields. Pilgrims gather at the pools of Kapal Mochan, and the sal forest of Kalesar climbs into the Shivalik foothills. Summers run hot, and the monsoon soaks July and August. A Local Friend opens doors you would never knock on, like a family veneer workshop or a canal path at sunset.
