Roads leave town through Nabha Gate, Patiala Gate, Sunami Gate and Dhuri Gate, even though the old gateways have vanished. Each name still points toward the town at the end of its road, so a ride across Sangrur works like a compass. Trains on the Ludhiana-Jakhal line stop here.
Beyond the bazaar, Jind's rulers left a marble baradari in the middle of a tank at Banasar Bagh, a museum in their old Diwan Khana and a row of royal samadhis outside Nabha Gate. Summers are fierce, monsoon rain arrives in July and winters stay cool and dry. A Local Friend keeps the plan loose, so a museum visit can drift into an evening walk by the water.
