Winter fog sits low over the fields around Hisar on December mornings, then lifts off the stone walls of Firoz Shah's palace. The cool months suit long days out, to the Gujari Mahal, the temples of Agroha Dham or the Harappan mounds of Rakhigarhi. By May, hot winds and dust storms push errands to early morning and evening.
Beyond the monuments, Hisar is a farming and university town, with a green agricultural campus and migratory birds on Blue Bird Lake in winter. Summers are fiercely hot, the monsoon comes in July and August, and winter nights turn cold. A Local Friend keeps the plan loose, trading a fort walk for a lakeside hour when fog or heat has other ideas.
