Dry-season mornings from December to April bring clear skies over the valley, and Cerro El Casupo stands sharp above the rooftops. From May the rains arrive, the hills turn a deeper green, and afternoon storms send people into cafés and doorways around Plaza Bolívar until the streets dry out again.
Beyond the old center, Lake Valencia spreads east of the city, cafés line El Viñedo, and the hot springs of Las Trincheras steam a short drive north. The climate is tropical savanna, warm all year, with a wet season from May to November and a sunnier dry season. A Local Friend keeps the plan loose, swapping a hilltop walk for a long café lunch when the clouds roll in.
