About this tip
Sala Zitarrosa, on Avenida 18 de Julio facing Plaza Fabini, is a city-linked venue named after singer-songwriter Alfredo Zitarrosa. It programs live Uruguayan music and in 2026 co-led the commemorations of his 90th birth anniversary. The hall is the former Cine y Teatro Rex, where Carlos Gardel sang in 1931. Check the Intendencia cultural agenda for the current lineup before you plan a night.
