Nagada drums thud across Gopal Maidan each November when Samvaad opens, and for five evenings tribal musicians and dancers from across India take turns on the stage. In early March the music moves to Jubilee Park, where fountains rise and fall to a soundtrack under strings of Founder's Day lights.
Beyond the park, wild elephants roam the forested Dalma Hills, Dimna Lake mirrors the ridge, and the old market lanes of Sakchi smell of freshly fried chanachur. Summers run hot, the monsoon soaks July to September, and winter days turn mild and clear. A Local Friend can turn your scattered list of temples, lakes and snack counters into one day that loops around sensibly.
