Picnic mats cover the banks of Garga Dam on winter weekends, where housing societies and steel plant departments cook lunch side by side. Back in town, every sector has its own centre market, and that is where neighbors bump into each other after work. Families from Bihar, Bengal and the South arrived with the plant, so one evening walk can pass a Bengali temple courtyard and a South Indian one.
Beyond the grid, the plant's chimneys rise across the water, and City Park's lake hides three small islands. Summers are hot, the monsoon soaks June to September, and winters stay mild and dry. A Local Friend walks the sectors beside you, never a step ahead.
