A bare granite dome rises out of flat fields just north of town, big enough for a climbing class. Climb the steps to the small Chandi temple on top, and the plain below shrinks into neat squares, with a goods train inching across like a toy.
Down in town, Adra Junction pulls in tracks from four directions, and shady roads of railway quarters spread around it. Farther out, Baranti Lake fills a fold between hills and Banda Deul keeps its old sandstone tower. Summers are hot and dry, the monsoon soaks July to September, and winters stay mild. A Local Friend can show you their own favorite rock on Joychandi and tell you the story that made it theirs.
