Winter birds paddle across Lakhota Lake while a stone palace sits on its own island in the middle. Families loop the lakeside path at dusk, and from the southeast bank the nonstop chant of the Bala Hanuman Temple carries over the water, steady as the ripples.
Beyond the lake, the arched Willingdon Crescent leads into Darbargadh, where shops stack red and green bandhani, and the mudflats of Khijadiya fill with waders. Summers run very hot from March to May, the monsoon brings light, erratic rain, and winter days stay warm with cool nights. A Local Friend can turn lake, bazaar and birding into a day that makes sense, from the first waders to a lakeside evening.
