Street signs here read like a filing system. Gandhidham was planned for Sindhi families after Partition, and its land still splits two ways, into numbered wards and port-run sectors. A clock arch marks the main market, and the airport road divides the city from Adipur, its quieter twin.
Adipur keeps the Gandhi Samadhi and a fan club so devoted to Charlie Chaplin that bowler hats fill its streets each spring. Kandla's cranes line the creek to the south, and old Anjar still has its knife makers. Winters are dry and mild, while summers burn until a short, uneven monsoon. A Local Friend introduces you to their own ward, from a favorite breakfast counter to the street their family calls home.
