Red earth and sal forest roll west toward Susunia Hill, a long dark ridge on the horizon. Back in town, the view shrinks to a shop step lined with terracotta horses, ears pricked up like leaves, each body turned on a potter's wheel in separate pieces and joined by hand.
Beyond the horses, the Ekteswar Temple stands by the Dwarakeswar River on the edge of town, and sweet counters stack mecha sandesh from nearby Beliatore. Summers run very hot, the monsoon soaks June to September, and winters stay mild and dry. A Local Friend can lead you to a favorite bend of the river and tell you the story their family tells about it.
