A green wall of mountains rises behind the rooftops, and on clear mornings the white church on Monserrate looks close enough to touch. Up here in the Andes the air is thin and cool, made for a steaming bowl of ajiaco. Below the ridge, La Candelaria climbs in steep colonial lanes and murals, with the Gold Museum a few blocks away.
Farther north, Usaquén fills with craft stalls on Sundays, and the Ciclovía hands main avenues to cyclists and joggers. The highland climate stays mild all year, with bright mornings that often turn to afternoon showers. A Local Friend climbs those streets at your side, not three steps ahead, stopping when you stop for breath and the view.
