A black steam engine waits under the red-trimmed arches of an old loco shed beside the station, and some days it fires up for a film crew. Rewari is full of surprises. The veteran Fairy Queen rests in the same shed, and nearby, brass pots take shape under hammers in Thathera Mohalla.
Beyond the rails, the old town gathers around Bada Talab, a stepped tank lined with domed pavilions, where a Hanuman temple fills up on Tuesdays. Summers are hot and dusty, monsoon rain falls from July to September, and winter mornings can be near freezing. A Local Friend can sit down with you at a sweet shop counter you would never have found, where regulars order without looking up.
