Cymbals and a mridanga drum start up at the evening kirtan in the ISKCON temple on Hare Krishna Marg, and the chant drifts out onto the street. A short ride away, the soundtrack switches to scooter horns, shopkeepers calling out and griddles hissing in the old market lanes around the Ghanta Ghar clock tower.
Beyond the old center, Namo Bharat trains glide toward Meerut on an elevated line, and City Forest spreads along the Hindon River with lakes, horse trails and cycle tracks. Summers are hot, the monsoon soaks July to September, and winters stay mild and dry. A Local Friend can turn a scattered list of temples, markets and parks into a day that actually fits together.
