Rocky, wooded hills sit quietly around the wide water of Ali Sagar, and from the hilltop guest house the Nizams built, the reservoir and its little island fill the whole view. Back in town, the climb up the old fort ends with Nizamabad spread out below, roofs and minarets running flat toward the horizon.
Closer in, a Saraswati statue stands in the water at Ashok Sagar, and the carved basalt of Dichpally Ramalayam waits on a hill just up the highway. The climate is tropical savanna, with a scorching spring, monsoon rain from June to October and mild, dry winters. A Local Friend can lead you to the lakeside spot their family loves and tell you how it became theirs.
