Holi has drawn crowds to the domed towers of the bathing ghat on the Kali Nadi since the 1880s, when fireworks lit the riverbank. The season also brings the Numaish, a fair that began as a horse show and still fills the exhibition grounds. On Kartik Purnima, bathers head east to the Ganges ghats at Anupshahr.
Between festivals, the carved Garden Gate leads into Moti Bagh, and the Clock Tower in Malka Park marks the middle of town. To the north, Kuchesar's mud fort is now a heritage hotel. Summers are hot, monsoon rain comes in July, and winters are cool and clear. A Local Friend opens doors you would not have knocked on, like a family Holi courtyard.
