Yellow kekes swing around the Garage roundabout, where a statue of Oga the hunter stands on an elephant above the traffic. From there, streets fan out past market stalls to the white and gold palace of the Ayangburen, the town's king, then into lanes where neighbors chat across their gates at dusk.
Beyond the center, boats leave the Ipakodo jetty for Lagos Island, and in Ijede a warm spring runs beside a small beach on the lagoon. The tropical climate brings rains from April to October and hazy, dry months when the harmattan blows. A Local Friend can walk you through their own corner of Ikorodu, from the spot they trust for breakfast to the street where they grew up.
