Indigo cloth hangs in long blue strips around Itoku, drying under a wide white sky, while the grey granite of Olumo Rock catches the morning light above the town. From the summit, rooftops spread toward the Ogun River, and the haze turns the far hills soft and pale.
Away from the rock, Ake Palace and Centenary Hall keep the old town's story, and nearby kitchens fill plates with ofada rice. It is hot all year, with heavy rains from April to October and a dusty Harmattan haze around December. A Local Friend knows when to climb early, before the heat settles on the stone, and when to linger at a stall until the last bolt of cloth is folded.
