Live music spills out of old brick warehouses in Deep Ellum, where jazz and blues players once filled the same blocks. Southwest of downtown, the Bishop Arts District swaps towers for galleries, coffee shops and independent boutiques. In the center, Klyde Warren Park lays a lawn over a sunken freeway, so office workers eat lunch on the grass while cars rush below.
Farther out, Lower Greenville fills its patios after dark, and each fall the State Fair of Texas opens its gates in South Dallas. Summers are long and hot, spring brings thunderstorms, and autumn turns mild. A Local Friend can walk you through the streets they call home, from their usual coffee stop to the corner where neighbors meet.
