You cross the Đồng Nai River onto Cù lao Phố, and incense drifts out of Chùa Ông, a temple raised by Chinese settlers. At lunch you share gỏi bưởi, a pomelo salad with shrimp and herbs. Later you walk through Văn miếu Trấn Biên and around the lake before its main hall.
Beyond the old core spread factories and new suburbs, and at Bửu Long rocks rise from old quarry lakes. It is warm all year, with a dry season from November to April and frequent rain from May to October. When your list runs out, a Local Friend picks the next stop, maybe a street you would never have turned down.
