Green hills climb straight out of the rooftops, and from Puncak Mas in the Sukadana Ham highlands you can trace them down to the islands of Lampung Bay. Near the harbor, Gunung Kunyit rises between the houses with pale, quarried cliffs, and the forested ridge of Gunung Betung guards the west.
In town, the kiosks of Gang PU stack banana chips in flavors from chocolate to corn, and families gather around seruit, fish mixed by hand with sambal and fermented durian. The air stays hot and humid all year, with the heaviest rain from December to March. A Local Friend sits down with you at a table you would not have found, where seruit is mixed in front of you.
