You follow the drums down a side lane during Navratri, and a Durga idol glows inside a pandal the neighbors built themselves. A few streets on, another mandal has tried to outdo it, and families drift between goddesses long after dinner. Cotton fields wait past the last houses.
Away from the festival, Prerna Sthal offers teak shade, and Boregaon Dam fills with boats at sunset. Tipeshwar's tiger forest and the underground Chintamani temple at Kalamb make easy day trips. Summers are fierce, the monsoon soaks the fields from June to September, and winters stay mild. When your plans run out, a Local Friend picks the next stop, maybe a pandal on a street you would never have tried.
