Paddle boats drift across Dighalipukhuri, a long tank where Ahom rulers once kept their war boats, beside the High Court built on its filled-in end. In Uzan Bazar, fishers sell the morning catch near the old Rajbari, where Ahom royal descendants still live, and ferries cross to Umananda, a river island with a Shiva temple from Ahom times.
Beyond the old core, the city climbs green hills, and pilgrims take the steps up to Kamakhya Temple for wide river views. Summers are hot and humid, the monsoon pours from June to September, and winters are dry and mild. A Local Friend walks beside you, pointing out stories tucked into ordinary streets while you pick the turns.
