Autos idle outside the railway station, drivers calling out for Pushkar, while shared tempos fill up for the run to the bus stand. Plenty of people simply walk, following the lanes of Dargah Bazaar, past stalls of rose petals and flower chadars, to the white marble shrine of Moinuddin Chishti.
Beyond the dargah, a Jain temple hides a hall of gilded figures, Shah Jahan's marble pavilions line Ana Sagar, and Taragarh Fort watches from the ridge. Summers are hot and dry, the monsoon brings most of the rain, and winters stay mild. A Local Friend keeps the plan loose, so a lakeside sunset can turn into kadi bhujje on the way home, or a detour over the hill to Pushkar.
