About me

I was born and raised in Oakland, CA and am 52 years old. I spent 10yrs of my early career working in SF in the finance industry. I started as a runner on the Pacific Stock Exchange Options floor and ended up working on the trading desk and one of the top 2 west coast firms. Steve Jobs was about 20 feet from my desk when we took Pixar public. The good old days. After the internet bubble burst I switched over to IT and have been doing that ever since. For a time I had my own IT business but let it go because it was based on renting server racks and that business quickly shifted to the cloud. I was also involved in several startups that didn't pan out and this curse didn't stop until a few years ago. But that may change if someone scribbles a great idea on a napkin and makes me fall in love with it. Definitely a curse!

I've never really left the Bay and lived anywhere else for too long. I've always loved it here. I know the San Francisco Bay area very well.

Tell us, how was your experience with this friend.

Write about your own experiences guiding as a Local Friend. You can write these on your own voice, relating the unique experiences you were able to give who was traveling with you. Example: "Last week, I guided a traveler from Spain who wanted to experience the city beyond the main attractions. We started with a quiet morning at a small coffee shop only locals know, then wandered through a street art alley where I could share the stories behind each mural. They told me it was their favorite part of the trip because it felt like discovering a secret side of the city, one they would have never found alone."
