About this tip
The Qiaotou sugar factory opened in 1901 and stopped making sugar in 1999. It is now a heritage park with old warehouses, old railway cars and galleries, and the grounds can be entered without a ticket although some areas inside charge. Reach it by metro or train from central Kaohsiung. Go on a weekday morning, allow a couple of hours and bring water for the open grounds.
