Red-brick cotton warehouses line the streets of the Northern Quarter, their ground floors turned into record shops, cafés and bars, with street art climbing the walls above. A short walk away, the mood shifts to the canal towpaths of Castlefield, where iron railway viaducts cross the water, and then to the red lanterns of Chinatown.
Further out, Heaton Park rolls across the north of the city, and leafy Chorlton fills its cafés and pubs on weekends. The weather is mild and damp, so a gray morning can turn into a soft, bright evening in any season. A Local Friend can take you to their own corner of the city, the pub, the park and the street they call home.
